태국의 Volume Matrix studio는 아름다운 태국의 자연환경과 온화한 기후를 고려해 자연과 어우러진 주거공간 프로젝트를 맡아왔다. 이번에 소개하는 SALA ZEN은 그들의 포트폴리오에서도 가장 눈에 띄는 프로젝트이며, 관련 미디어의 호평을 받으며 Volume Matrix studio를 주목할만한 스튜디오의 반열에 올려놓았다.

 

 

SALA ZEN은 주변 환경을 거울처럼 반영하는 듯, 주택을 둘러싼 나무들이 자연스럽게 어우러지도록 구상했다. 필로티 구조로 자연풍이 드나들면서 우거진 수풀과 나무가 주택 곳곳에 녹아드는 외관이다. 여기에 원목의 외벽을 사용한 점은 SALA ZEN과 주변의 조화로운 아름다움을 한층 더한다. 계단실은 3면이 트인 통유리와 스틸 프레임으로 구성해 간결하게 오픈된 외관을 자랑한다.

 

1층은 공동공간으로, 주택의 거주공간은 위층으로 올리고 이곳을 오픈된 형태로 구성, 강가로 이어지도록 설계했다. 이를 통해 태국의 온화한 날씨와 SALA ZEN이 자리 잡은 이 지역의 자연림을 마음껏 누릴 수 있는 공간이 됐다.

 

 

SALA ZEN은 주택의 전체를 둘러싼 나무들을 공간 안에도 적극적으로 들여왔다. 시원하게 오픈된 구조의 2층 바닥에는 원목 데크를, 건물의 벽면과 내부의 여러 소품들, 가구도 목재를 적극 활용해 넓게 트인 창문과 더불어 주택의 내외를 통일된 느낌으로 디자인했다.

 

 

3층에는 ZEN(禪: 불교, 선)이라는 주택의 이름과 걸맞은 정적인 일본식 다다미방이 있다. 이곳은 3층의 정원과도 연결되어 있어 슬라이딩도어를 열면 정원과 정원 밖의 풍경을 감상하기 좋다. 단순한 물성과 기본적인 요소만을 활용해 안과 밖, 주변 환경과 거주 공간이 조화롭게 설계된 SALA ZEN은 평화롭고 자연주의적인 분위기로 클라이언트와 미디어의 박수를 받고 있다.

 

 

This project is designing to blend in with the existing tree. Acting as a mirror to reflect the landscape around it. Using the basic elements of form, opening window, wall. First floor is a common area. It designs to elevate the function room up and allow the space open thru the river. Second floor, create the walking bridge to link the building with the rest of compound residence. The walking bridge connect to the second-floor terrace and it is made of grid frame steel to create the lightness and blending with the tree. The interior is simple and allow to see the river view and garden around. Stair case that leading to the third floor is surrounded with natural light and the view of existing tree.

 

 

On the third floor is a sensation space (Tatami room) and experiencing change space. The interior ought to be opened to the outside Sala which was essentially connected element. Through the sliding door, rooftop landscape bursts into the Tatami room. This project meant to create an experiencing change. By using the simple material, basic elements and contiguity of inside and outside. Moreover, the building trend to link the landscape around with the rural life style.
